The cultural and social environment of eastern Taiwan allows the Department to develop

  a way to integrate theory and practice.

1. Appling theory on the research, innovation, performance and education of Austronesian and ethnic music
2. Providing performance resource for eastern Taiwan, where related resource is not abundant. Besides performance resource, the Department also provides research resource
3. Inviting world-famous musical performer or guest professor every semester; holding regular chamber music, orchestra and chorus performance and touring concert
